Black Metal from South Africa and for some reason, which I'll not explain, the thought of which gives me a sinister grin.That's correct this band is from Cape Town,South Africa and their name is Swedish for "winter slave". Anyway after blasting this once I had to wonder what MARDUK would think if they heard this. They'd probably say "did we use to sound like that?" Answer, yes you did guys. On this release, which the band considers an EP but has 9 songs coming in at forty two minutes, VINTERSLAV gives us a harsh collection of material that's vicious and necro as it gets. I should also say it's primitive in style and production plus very second wave. I'd like to strap a hipster to a chair and force em to listen to "Into The Void Of Eternity" just for laughs. The singer, Vinter, is no slouch when it comes to the harsh vocal rasps which he let's vomit forth over tremolo fury and the unrelenting blast beats. Other cuts like opener "Revivifying The Whore" and "A Path To Extinction" really eschew the type of pure hate that their Nordic brethren was once known for. Yeah this is pretty good.
